Patrick Dugan

April 18, 1944 — October 15, 2013

McFARLAND--Patrick E. "Pat" Dugan, age 69, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Pat was born in Madison on April 18, 1944 to the late Eugene and Dorothy (Taylor) Dugan. He was a lifelong Madison area resident having graduated from Monona Grove High School, Class of '62. Following graduation he proudly entered the military serving 6 years (1962-1968) with the U.S. Navy, serving on nuclear subs (USS Plunger), surface ships (USS Mattaponi) while making three tours to Viet Nam.

On November 24, 1976 Pat was united in marriage to Charlene Knickmeier (Krantz). Together they lived in McFarland while Pat continued his 31-year career as a Data Communications Specialist for the UW Madison. He enjoyed watching football, and auto racing. Other times, he would lose himself for hours in science fiction books, as he was an avid reader. In his earlier years, he spent time hunting in the woods of Wisconsin and fishing in his Bass boat on Lake Waubesa. Pat also had a fondness for technology and spent many hours tinkering with electronics.

He will be missed by his wife, Charlene and her two children, Dan (Tamara) Knickmeier and Danette Knickmeier; his two daughters, Dawn and Chandra Dugan and their children, Daniel, Anthony, and Breiana; sisters and brothers: Jane (Ken) Berg, Danny (Carol) Dugan, Becky Bazan, Donna (Kendal) Uphoff, and Todd Dugan; special aunt and Godmother, Virginia Kieras; aunt Evelyn Taylor, also many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved pets Thufei and Dustie.

Pat's family extends a special thank you to the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for their tremendous care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5306 Main St., McFarland with the Reverend D. Stephen Smith presiding. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. Lunch will be served in the parish hall immediately after the service and military honors, followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please make donations to a charity of your choice.
