Patrick Shelley

Sun Prairie - Patrick "Pat" Shelley, age 81 passed away July 31, 2014. He was born on July 24, 1933 in Kenosha the son of Thomas and Margaret (Willems) Shelley. He proudly enlisted and served in the United State Marines serving at Camp Pendleton and in Korea. On November 28, 1959, Pat was united in marriage to Kathryn Klinefelter at Deerfield Lutheran Church. Pat was a guidance counselor at Sun Prairie Junior and Senior High Schools for 24 years. He was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and helped with the Sunshine Suppers. Pat loved golfing, spending time with his many friends and traveling with his wife, Kathi. Most of all he cherished time spent with his family and grandchildren.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 55 years; Kathryn, three children; Kevin (Sandra Whitney) Shelley, Lynn (William) Panton and Deanne (Steven) Rohde, and four grandchildren; Mara and Simon Shelley, Louis and Lydia Panton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving family and numerous special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Tom and Donald and his two sisters; June Shelley and Shirley Hertzler.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11:00 am with his nephew, Pastor Patrick Shelley and Pastor Julie Krahn officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of services. Graveside services with military rites will be held on Thursday at 2:30 pm at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in rural Deerfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Pat to the Sun Prairie Education Foundation, PO Box 836, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin 53590.
