Brumley, Paul Gabriel
EVANSVILLE- Paul Gabriel Brumley, age 17, passed from this life to the next on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, following a prolonged battle with bi-polar disorder. Paul was born July 10, 1992, in Madison, WI to parents Monte and Terry (Heavner) Brumley. He previously attended Evansville High and was home schooled for his junior year. Paul was a gifted musician and talented performer. He excelled in Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir. Paul delighted audiences in performances as the ""Voice of God"" in ""Beauty & the Beast"" and ""Darry"" in ""The Outsiders."" Paul earned numerous awards in percussion and voice in the State of Wisconsin Solo and Ensemble competitions, beginning in the seventh grade.
Paul had a natural talent for music, which was advanced beyond his years due to his focus, discipline and devotion to perfecting his craft. He was an unusually empathetic young man and music was both his outlet and his passion. Paul had the ability to discern the core of complicated ideas and often engaged in philosophical and political discussions with family and friends. Paul had a huge heart and a contagious sense of humor. He often used his gift of mimicry to make everyone laugh. Paul epitomized personal integrity and compassion. He was a ""gentle giant"" who loved his family and their numerous pets.
He is survived by his parents, Monte and Terry Brumley of Evansville; three siblings: Cora Heavner Brumley, Assistant Athletic Director at the State University of New York at Oswego, Michael Monte Brumley, a 2008 graduate of Evansville High, and Katherine Zoe Brumley, a sophomore at Evansville High; maternal grandmother, Lois Heavner; aunt, Mary Brumley of Middleton; godparents, Dan and Judy Olson of Sun Prairie; great uncle, Milburn ""Ed"" White of Batesville, Arkansas; and other members of the Brumley, Heavner, Sherpe and Wagner families.
Paul was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Matthew Heavner; paternal grandparents, Howard and Juna Brumley; and aunt, Sandra Wagner.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held from 4:00 -- 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the family home in Evansville, Wisconsin.
