Paul Gritzmacker

September 30, 1970 — February 27, 2015

Madison - Paul John Gritzmacker, age 44 passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 following a long and courageous battle with Huntington 's disease. He was born on September 30, 1970 in Madison, the son of Reginald and Kathryn (Anderson) Gritzmacker.

Paul graduated from Madison East High School in 1989. He loved sports and participated in many events throughout his youth and adolescent years. Paul was part of East Madison Little League, Warner Park Youth Football, and East Side Youth Hockey. He also played football and hockey for East High School. He will never forget going to state for hockey and winning the championship during the 1986-1987 season. Paul worked as an oil lube technician for Valvoline Instant Oil Change and also Walmart. He loved the outdoors, four wheeling, boating, fishing, camping on the family property in Bayfield County and his love to drive around and listen to loud music. One proud moment, was in 2006 when he purchased his first new vehicle, a 2006 grey GMC Sierra truck. Most of all, Paul thoroughly enjoyed time with his son Adam and watching him perform his skateboarding stunts.

Paul is survived by his son, Adam Gritzmacker; his mom, Kathryn "Kay" Gritzmacker; sister, Laura Gritzmacker; three nieces, Brittany Martin, Stephanie Martin and Jill Showers (Adam Purcell) and a great nephew, Amir Southall. He is also survived by numerous cousins, other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister Becky Sue Gritzmacker, his father Reginald and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 12 Noon with Pastor Sonja Heiser officiating. A time to gather will be held at Cress Funeral Home on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of services. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Badger Prairie Health Care Center and Heartland Hospice for all their love, care and compassion given to Paul and our family throughout Paul's final days.
