Paul Krause

Stoughton - Paul Gustave Krause, age 91, of Stoughton, WI, and formerly of Pinehurst NC and Middleton MA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 14, 2015, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on May 31, 1924 in New York, NY, the son of Albert Krause and Betty Stenglein Krause, who immigrated from Bavaria, Germany in 1908.

Paul grew up in New York City, the son of an Accountant and a Dressmaker. He was drafted into World War 2 after graduating from High School, and served in the Army Infantry in the Philippines as a staff sergeant. After the war, he attended college in upstate New York on the GI Bill, obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for several companies in Milwaukee, WI and then took a job in Montreal, Canada with the Canadian National Railroad, where he met the love of his life, Joan Moxley. They married in Laramie, Wyoming, on June 1, 1959, en route to San Francisco, California to begin employment with Lockheed Corporation.

After adopting twins, Joan and Paul moved eastward across the country, with a brief stint in Ann Arbor, MI and then settling their young family in Middleton, Massachusetts. There, Paul worked for the Raytheon Corporation, developing equipment for lunar exploration, and the Patriot Missile Defense System. Paul also loved oil painting, making pottery and enjoying ocean beaches.

Paul is survived by his son, Peter Krause of Pinehurst NC, and daughter, Barbara (Tom) Roe and four grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, Clea and Owen Roe, all of Stoughton WI.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Edith (Moxley) Krause and brother Harold Krause, and his parents, Albert Krause and Betty Stenglein Krause.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held at Cress Funeral Home on 206 W. Prospect St. in Stoughton, on January, 5, 2016. Visitation will be from 2:30-3:30 pm with a service of remembrance at 3:30 pm followed by light refreshments.
