Paul A. Speight, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2010.  He was born in Iowa City on February 7, 1924, the son of Glenn and Mildred (Wetherell) Speight.  He attended Grinnell College from 1941-43 before enlisting in the Army Signal Corps, where he served from 1943-45.  After serving his country he received a  BS in Education, and a Masters in Music Education both in 1949 from Northwestern University.  Paul received his Doctorate in Education Administration in 1984.  He was a teacher in Edgerton from 1949-51, then was employed by Marshall Field and Co. of Chicago as head of  personnel from 1951-60, District Sales Manager for Bissell Corp, 1960-61,  and Director of Research and Development at E.R. Wagner from 1961-70.  Paul's passion for education and administration lead to many accomplishments which included;  Director of the Educational Service Agency in Plymouth, WI, Head of the GED Program of Wi, Wisconsin Dept. of Instruction, Governor's Conference of Small Business, Youth Council Vice President, and was also on the Vice President's Council on Youth Employment.  He also served on school boards in Barrington, IL,  Madison, WI,  was president at Nicolet H.S. board  in Milwaukee 1968-70. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church for 35 years.   Paul is survived by his loving wife of  64 years, Charlotte; devoted children, Leslie Bell, Kent (Linda) Speight, and Mary (Robert) Spain, cherished grandchildren, Amy, Christopher, Jennifer, Heather, Elizabeth, and Jeffery, and great grandchildren; Abraham, Anna, Kelsey, and Josie.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, November 1, 2010 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd  Madison, WI.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers that family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to The American Heart Association.  Â
