Paul Wipperfurth

January 21, 1956 — May 26, 2021

Paul Wipperfurth, age 65, passed away on Wednesday May 26th 2021 surrounded by family.

Paul was born on January 21, 1956 in Waunakee the son of Victor and Henrietta “Heine” (Meffert) Wipperfurth.  He attended Waunakee High School and created friendships that are still active today.  It was in high school that Paul went on a blind date with Robin, at the end of the day she reluctantly agreed to a second date-the rest is history!  Their true love (married in 1979) has lasted through thick and thin, sickness and health, good times and bad.  According to all that knew him there were MANY good times.  Paul worked at Qual Line, Waunakee Village, Nord Gear, moved to Dane County Highway and eventually the Dane County Parks Dept.  Paul was an active member of the Poynette Bowhunters Assc for several decades.  It was here that he was attracted to the Poynette area. In 1994, Paul and Robin built and moved to their dream home and have enjoyed every minute since.  Paul loved being outdoors whether it was woodworking (or drinking) in the shed, camping, 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting or walking through the many trails of his woods-it was his happy place! Paul loved playing cards, he was an avid cribbage and euchre player.  Almost 40 years ago his world took another turn, he became a father. Paul and Robin welcomed 3 kids in 3 years (Renee, Vic and Derek)-which may answer a few reasons for his drinking habits.  He was a very involved dad and taught them so many wonderful things. Nothing, however, prepared him for his greatest title and legacy: Grandpa.  Paul has 7 grandsons and 1 granddaughter (all under the age of 7).  He loved nothing more than to share his joy of the outdoors with his grandchildren; along with getting on the ground and playing with each and every one of them.  The many memories and stories that we have will be forever cherished and relived.

Paul was a simple, patient and humorous man but most importantly an honest man.  He loved his family more than anything in the world. He had a dynamic that was unmatched and a charismatic personality that drew you to him again and again.  Paul had so many friends and shared so many memorable moments, it’s hard to find just one thing to remember him by. He simply was one in a million.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Robin (Ritchie), his 3 children Renee (Jon) Kotek, Vic (Kaia) and Derek (Stephanie).  He will be loved forever by his 8 grandchildren; Frank, Evan, Jenna Kotek, Croix and Dax Sunne-Wipperfurth and Owen, Wyatt and Levi Wipperfurth.  Amongst his immediate family he is also survived by Jane Kuehn, Doris (Steve) Kalscheur, Diane (Gene) Griffith, Edna (Al) Wrchota and Rich (Jeannie) Wipperfurth and a gaggle of nieces and nephews.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Vic and Henrietta, mother and father in-law, Floyd and Ruby Ritchie, sister Lois Wipperfurth, brother-in-law Joe Kuehn, niece Tina Paulson.
