Paulette Amborn

June 25, 1949 — January 13, 2021

Paulette Amborn (Bruns), age 71, died peacefully, surrounded by her family from myotonic dystrophy.  Born in 1949 in Baraboo, she loved her 1950’s childhood living in Lyndon Station and West Salem.  She especially enjoyed her frequent visits to Belgium to see her grandparents and relatives and trips to visit cousins in North Dakota.

In 1966 Paulette worked the summer in the Wisconsin Dells at Adler’s Resort and Supper Club.  After high school, she attended the McDonald school for flight attendants in Minneapolis and was hired by Ozark Airlines. Paulette resigned from that job to give birth and raise her son Jonathan.  She moved back to the La Crosse area where she was diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy and fought that disease for the rest of her life.  In the early 80's she worked various jobs settling on becoming a Life Insurance salesperson for the New York Life Insurance Co. with her Dad.

Paulette loved to travel frequently.  One of her most memorable tours was with a dear friend as they spent weeks enjoying the sights and foods of Europe. Following her diagnosis and after the death of her father, she moved with her mother to Waunakee where she could be closer to her brother Mark and his family.

Paulette loved working in her back yard, reading, watching old movies, and getting together monthly to play cards with her friends. Paulette’s best friend was her mother, and they loved each other so very dearly. They did everything together. Paulette's adult life wasn't easy, but she was always strong in the face of adversity.

Paulette is survived by her son Jonathan Kinnas, her mother Christiane, brother Mark Bruns (Tina), and niece Katie Bruns.  We love and miss her dearly and will think of her every day.

In lieu of flowers Memorial gifts may be made in Paulette’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or the American Heart Association.

Winn-Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee has been entrusted with arrangements. She will travel back to West Salem to be laid to rest privately next to her father and aunt at the Neshonoc Cemetery at a later date.
