Madison - Pauline C. Lenz, age 86, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born in rural Sauk County on February 16, 1925 the daughter of Henry and Stella (Gelhaus) Knudson. Pauline graduated as valedictorian of her high school class in Spring Green, Wisconsin in June of 1941. She was united in marriage to Milton H. Lenz on February 14, 1942. They lived in Bear Creek where their daughter, Sandy, was born. In 1945, they moved to Madison. She and her husband were active members of Bethel Lutheran Church. Pauline joined the Bethel staff in 1954 and had the pleasure of working for and with many youth directors and pastors until her retirement in 1990.
Lifelong pleasures were her family, entertaining, cooking, reading, playing cards, and tending to her flowers. Pauline also enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband Milt, throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Pauline is survived by her, daughter, Sandra (Charles) Stark; two grandchildren: Erik (Karla) Hendrickson and Shana (Michael) Leith; two great grandsons: Lukas and Jacob; and by many others she and Milt felt were a part of their extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Milt.
Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, on Friday, July 8, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Duane Hanson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Spring Green Cemetery in Spring Green at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to HospicCare Inc., Bethel Lutheran Church, or Bethel Horizons.
