Ashton/Middleton -- Peter L. Ripp, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tues. Jan. 11, 2011, at Homestead Living in Waunakee, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ashton on June 29, 1917 to Herman and Elizabeth Ripp. He married Marcella Dahmen on Oct. 21, 1943 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2010. Peter farmed all of his life on the family farm that was established by his grandfather Johann Ripp.
He had many interests including playing cards, fishing, farming, gardening and especially enjoying friends and family. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ashton.
Survivors include his ten children, Donna (Delwin) Breunig, Harry (Ann) Ripp, Evie Schuetz, Rita (Dan) Endres, Leo (Becky) Ripp, Gary (Shirley) Ripp, Vic (Nancy) Ripp, Al (Shari) Ripp, Dennis (Patty) Ripp, and Mary (Mark) Ripp, 33 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Mathilda Ripp and Sister Catherine Anne Dahmen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Marcella; two brothers, Martin and Albert; and sisters, Theresa Kalscheur, Agnes Hellenbrand, Helen Acker, and Rosalia Maier; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. Jan 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St Peter's Catholic Church, 7121 County Trunk K, Ashton. Rev Henry Kalscheuer will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Sat from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
