Philip William Rauls, 88, died on March 15, 2022, at the home where he was born on December 17, 1933. He was the first son born to Werner and Dorothy (Simon) Rauls. He graduated from Sauk City High School in 1952 and married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Kippley, on October 20, 1955.
Philip was a successful dairy farmer and in his later years you could always find him on his lawn mower. He was an avid cribbage, euchre and solo player, sports enthusiast, and hickory nut cracker. Although a man of few words, he never failed to add a smart remark to any conversation.
Philip is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Peggy DiCarro (Nick) Hall, Paula Duryea (Rick), Bonnie (Kevin) Laffey, Doug (Connie) Rauls, Brenda (Paul) Gruber and Rob (Renee) Rauls; grandchildren, Matt (Chelsey) Unger, Melanie Unger, Mackenzie Duryea (Jose), Nichole (Jesse) Kalscheur, Morgan (Matt) Lively, Meredith Laffey (Joe) JJ Rauls (Meghan), Kristina (Darin) Ripp, Nathan (Melissa) Rauls, Blake (Meghan Ann) Gruber, Chase (Carolyn) Gruber, Ashlyn Gruber and Griffin Rauls; great-grandchildren, Kendrake, Kyleena, Emma, Elodie, Sophia, Pearce, Conroy, Malia, Oliver and Baby Rauls; sister, Alice (Melvin) Ballweg; brother, Jim (Eileen) Rauls; in-laws, Darlene Pings, Lucy Kippley, Ray Wipperfurth, Lloyd (Edi) Kippley, Gilbert (Jean) Rauls, Bev (Jack) Breunig, and Marlene Kippley.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Michael Unger; son-in-law, Terry DiCarro; sisters, Mary Jane (Kenny) Lochner, Katie (Gene) Pings, and Ruth (Bob) Meyers; in-laws, Joseph and Amelia Kippley, Virgil Kippley, Wylina Rauls, and Shirley Wipperfurth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Friday, March 18th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. at St. Martins of the Tours, 5959 St. Martin Circle in Martinsville. Friends may also call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at a later date.
