Phillip W. Kennedy

Stoughton- Phillip W. Kennedy, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 5, 2011. He was born in Mason City, Iowa on May 3, 1926 the son of Clarence and Jessie (Skellinger) Kennedy. Phil graduated from Madison East High School. On May 12, 1951 he married Sylvia Johnson in Stoughton. Phil worked at Stoughton High School as Supervisor of custodians and as a carpenter. He was a member of the Optimist Club and Covenant Lutheran Church. Phil enjoyed fishing on Lake Camelot and his fishing trip to Canada. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; three children, Gary, Barb (Tom) Bollig and David Kennedy; and two grandchildren, Tim Kennedy and Shelby Bollig. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Kennedy; and half sister, Gretchen Munger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Mark Petersen officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the services. Entombment will take place in Roselawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Wednesday. A special thank you to the staffs of Harbor House, HospiceCare Inc. and Covenant Lutheran Church.
