After a short battle with cancer, Phyllis Marie (Anderson) Moore passed away peacefully, at home, July 5, 2024, with her husband, Pete, and her sister, Ginny, by her side. Phyllis was born on April 21, 1954, in Hillsboro, WI, the daughter of Ellery and Marguerite (Stanek) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm near Mt. Tabor, WI. She loved reminiscing about her childhood! There was always something to do. Helping with the haying, picking pickles, getting the cows home for milking, biking, hiking through the woods to her friend’s farms, and just having fun! From the age of 12, she was the organist at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mt. Tabor.
After graduating from Hillsboro High School, she moved to Madison to attend the University of WI. A year later she decided that wasn’t for her, and soon began her 45-year career at Berg Co. in Madison. She married Peter Moore in 1981, and spent many years working at the Columbus Speedway Race Track, a Moore family business. Pete often said, “she ran the place,” running everywhere all night long to make sure things ran smoothly; sometimes driving in the Powder Puff races!
After her father-in-law, Richard Moore, passed away in 1996, she took over the bookkeeping for Moore’s Towing and Services. She continued to do so until her diagnosis of CSVD made it impossible for her to continue.
Phyllis loved to travel, going to Europe twice, and traveling around the United States with Pete to car races. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always there for them.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 43 years, Peter Moore; her siblings, Barb (Allen) Raasch, Marce Anderson, Ginny (Mark) Owens, Doris Skemp, and Larry Anderson; her mother-in-law, Shirley Moore; brothers-in-law, Garry (Pam) Moore, and David Moore; and sister-in-law, Linda Moore. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law; sister-in-law, Mary Anderson; brothers-in-law, Joe Novy, Alann Skemp, and Dave Davis; nephew, Erik Anderson; and her great-nephew, Samuel Ellery Anderson.
