Polly Anne Petroff (Peters) age 85, resident of Wausau, Wis. for more than 50 years, died July 1, 2024. Polly was born November 23, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Fred Peters and stepmother Katherine Peters. She was raised by her paternal grandparents Julia and John Peters, known to her as Mother Judy and Daddy Jack. Polly married to the late George Petroff on March 12, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Proud mother to her four children Linda Koppa (Phil) of Daytona Beach, Fla., Judy Glewwe (Kelton) of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Kristin Fassbinder (Brett Kehoe) of Oshkosh, Wis., and David Petroff (Molly) of Waunakee, Wis. Grandmother to Jordan LaVake, Nick LaVake, Zachary LaVake, Clarissa Poferl (Adam), Blake Glewwe, Tyler Kehoe (Kaitlyn), Logan Fassbinder, Turner Kehoe, McKenna Fassbinder, Elliot Petroff, and Josie Petroff. Great-grandmother to Harper Poferl and Luca Kehoe. Polly is also survived by her dearest friend Beverly Winters of Wausau, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband George and son-in-law Robert Fassbinder.
Polly was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Wausau, singing in the choir for decades. She was an active volunteer and participant in her children’s schools and the Wausau community, including the Humane Society of Marathon County, various parent-teacher organizations, cheerleading and athletics booster clubs, the Wausau Story and Pages Drum & Bugle Corps, Wausau Community Theatre, Monteverdi Chorale, Wausau Child Care, and other organizations.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9 at First Presbyterian Church in Wausau. Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm, and a service at 3:30 pm, with Reverend Joy Nelson-Jeffers presiding.
