Ramachandran Appusundaram (Ramu), age 77, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. He was born to Appusundaram Vaidyanathan and Lakshmi Appusundaram in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India. He graduated with a Master of Science degree in Physics from St. Joseph's College in his hometown. He started his career at JIPMER, Pondicherry, India. He later joined the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) in India and worked for the Govt of India as geophysicist. During his long career at CGWB he mentored many people and they fondly remember him for his kindness and thoughtfulness. He continued to contribute to the field as a subject matter expert even after retirement.
Ramachandran is survived by his wife Sethulakshmi (Rama), two sons, daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and an amazing grandfather. He enjoyed traveling and had visited almost all parts of India.
He had support from many good neighbors, friends, colleagues and family, who were with him through thick and thin. Many thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff at UW Hospital, who helped and supported Ramu during his last days. He was truly generous in his life and will be dearly missed.
