Stoughton- Ray ""Jack"" Luther, age 94, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born in Milwaukee on October 29, 1916. Jack married Winnie Luther on February 15, 1938. She preceded him in death in July 2010. Jack was a distributor for Sinclair Refining Company in Waukesha before coming to Stoughton in 1965 to become owner of Johnston Oil, Inc. In retirement, he and Winnie spent their summers at their cottage in Wild Rose until moving to the Stoughton Vennevoll Retirement Community in 1986. For 26 years they spent their winters in Florida. Jack is survived by his children, Tom (Sandy) Luther, Dick (Kay) Luther and Mary (Gary) Meloy; grandchildren, Craig (Sue) Luther, Leah (Doug) Maurer, Robyn Luther-Marcoux, Rod (Cassey) Luther, Patric (Tia) Meloy, Colleen (Kevin) Meloy and Mike (Mandy) Meloy; and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Jack enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, spending summers with family and friends at their summer cottage and wintering in Florida. He was so good at giving a one-liner and then walking away to allow you to ponder what he just said. His heart was always looking for ways to brighten another's day. Life with the love of his life, Winnie, was his special joy. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sienna Crest of Marshall and HospiceCare Inc. At Jack's request, there will be a private family memorial service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
