Raymond G. ""Ray"" Annen, Sr. age 84 passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Ray was born on March 19, 1927, the son of Nick and Nellie (Faust) Annen. He served proudly in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He served 14 months on the 38th Parallel with the Thunderbirds. He married Beverly Yngsdahl on November 27, 1954. He worked at Swift and Company. He hauled canned milk for Milwaukee Cheese. Ray was also a government contractor until 1988. Ray retired in 2007 from supervisor of maintenance at City View Nursing Home.
Ray enjoyed life to the fullest. He liked hunting, fishing, and was an avid packer fan. Ray always said, ""Live today like there is no tomorrow"" and ""Don't tell anybody you saw me.""
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Annen. His four sons: Ray, Jr. ""Butch"" (Christy Deans) of Dane, Joe (Sherri) of DeForest, Richard of Blackhawk, and Kenneth (Pat) of Dane; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Janet Annen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Annen, Gertrude Annen, Edward Annen, Susan Haas, and Werner Annen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Dr. Sun Prairie, with Rev. Msgr. Terrence L. Connors presiding. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 until 6 pm at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie and also on Thursday at church from 10 am until the time of mass. Entombment will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.
