Stoughton- Raymond R. Smithback, age 83, passed away in Verona on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. He was born in Utica on May 5, 1928, a son of Adolph and Olga (Ellestad) Smithback. He served his country in the Army. Raymond was united in marriage to Jeannette LaBansky on May 18, 1963 in Rockford. He loved to play cards and enjoyed Big Band era music. Raymond had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes and stories. He liked spending time with his shelties. Raymond is survived by his wife, Jeannette; 2 sons, Richard (Lynda) Smithback and Terry (Lesa) LaBansky; and 2 grand daughters, Kelly and Christi. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; 2 brothers, Claude and Arthur; and sisters, Laura, Amy and Norma. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, where the family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.
