Rebecca “Becky” Louise (Halverson) Johnson, age 60, of Stoughton, passed away on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 at St. Agnes Hospital with her sons by her side.
She was born on January 3rd, 1965 in Stoughton, the daughter of Roger and Audrey (Dybevik) Halverson. She was the youngest of her siblings, and always kept them on their toes while she chased them around the neighborhood barefoot.
She graduated from Stoughton High School where she focused on her studies and played the oboe. She then attended Lawrence University in Appleton on an academic scholarship, graduating in 1986. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
She married Brian Johnson of Edgerton in Stoughton in 1987. They later separated in 2004.
She spent the bulk of her career at Alliant Energy in finance, then later in operational leadership roles. Most recently, she had been working with Edward Jones in Stoughton.
She saw herself as a helper, mother, mentor, and leader. She spent time with books, her dog and companion Rita, and was an avid couch Jeopardy contestant. She enjoyed cooking from family recipe cards and from her favorite Food Network shows. She supported her sons in academics, athletics, music, and other extra-curriculars. The family was able to travel the country together and with close family friends. It was important to her that her sons see the world and learn at least a bit of Norwegian.
She kept several close friendships from high school and developed many more in the community.
She is survived by her sons Blake (Kellie) and Gavin (Kailyn); her siblings Sue (Jeff) Natvig, Margit (John) Gerber, Burton Halverson, and Bruce Halverson; granddaughter Mollie Johnson; and by many relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Connor, and nephews Gunnar and Jack.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 3rd. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service. The service will be followed by a luncheon. The service, visitation, and luncheon will all be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Road B, Stoughton, with Pastor Paula presiding. Following the luncheon a burial will be held at Wheeler Prairie Cemetery, 598 Tower Drive, Stoughton.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made out to Operation Fresh Start or The River Food Pantry, both of Madison.
