Madison- Rhea B. Myers, aged 91, completed his life's work on September 29, 2017. Rhea, known as RB, was born on April 10, 1926, in Amarillo Texas. Following the death of his mother and sister as a youth, his father, Rhea C brought RB to Wisconsin and pretty much left him on his own. He attended high school at Madison East and graduated from Monroe. RB left for the war in the Pacific as a member of the Air Corps. During his service, he flew air combat missions and was part of the overflight of the Battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay at the surrender ceremony. He then flew missions over Korea. The young B-29 tail gunner came back from war determined to succeed on his own. With the considerable support of his bride, Ardelle, the GI Bill and the University of Wisconsin, Dad graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in January of 1951 and, forever after provided for his growing family as a business manager. His greatest desire was to keep himself and family independent. He taught and enforced responsibility. Whether at work, service or at play in duck hunting, fishing or golf he resolutely guided his family to do our best. After retirement, RB and Ardelle returned to La Crosse to enjoy the bluffs, the river and friends and resume membership at St. Pauls' Lutheran Church. They moved to Middleton in 2015 to be closer to the kids.
Rhea is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ardelle, their three children, Rhea A. (Karen), Mark (Alice) and Mindy (Dave), 5 grandchildren, Theran, Leanne, Justine, Nathan, Meaghan and Alec, the great grandchild.
We will celebrate his life and lessons at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Middleton on October 14, with visitation 10 to 11 am and a luncheon to follow a service. Anyone wishing to offer a remembrance may direct funds to St. Luke's church as Rhea would not have had much use for memorial flowers.
