Waunakee: Richard Andrew Annen, 74, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at UW Hospital, Madison, WI. He was born on April 22, 1950 to Andrew and Florence (Frisch) Annen. He married Susan Backus on September 25, 1976, and was employed by The Bruce Co., Middleton, WI. Richard was an avid fisherman, hunter, reader and sports enthusiast, especially car racing and hockey. Family always came first. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Meredith (John) Ziino, granddaughter Kaylee Annen-Ziino, mother Florence Annen, brother Dennis (Joan) Annen, sisters Linda Annen and Janice (Thomas) Brady, niece Consetta (Bryan) Johnson (Alainah and Kellan), nephew Benjamin (Christine) Annen (Laura, Bailey, and Sadie), brother-in-law Alan (Jane) Backus, and sister-in-law Kay Backus. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Annen. Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Rd., Waunakee, WI 53597. A celebration of life will follow the service at Rex’s Inkeeper, Waunakee, from 12:00 to 3:30 pm.
