Richard "Dick" Becker, age 68, died Saturday, December 20, 2014. He was born October 13, 1946, in Appleton, WI, to Norbert and Jeanette (O'Donnell) Becker. He grew up in Kaukauna WI attending St. Mary's grade school and Kaukauna High School. His summer jobs included the Public Works Department, the paper mill and the Police Department. He attended Fox Valley Technical College and then transferred to UW Stevens Point where he met his wife Mary (Rogers). They were married in 1970. After graduation they moved to Madison and he started his career in State service. He worked for the Department of Justice, the Council on Criminal Justice, the WI Technical College Board and the Department of Public Instruction primarily as a budget analyst.
Dick loved reading, photography, his family, his neighbors and his dog friends. He enjoyed discussing politics and solving the world's problems with his friends. Making people laugh was his greatest joy. He made friends with everyone he worked with from politicians to waitresses. Though his illnesses limited his mobility, it didn't confine his spirit.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary, his daughter Tracy Becker, and his sister Carol (Greg) Schmitz.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, WI on Tuesday, December 30 at 11:00 am.
