Richard R. Favour

Stoughton/Beloit- Richard R. Favour, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Stoughton on Thursday, November 27, 2008.  He was born in Beloit on October 4, 1926, the son of Lawrence and Alice (Buck) Favour.  Dick graduated from Beloit High School in 1944 and from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1949.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served during WWII on the U.S.S. Wasp as a radio man.  Dick was honorably discharged in 1946.  On September 26, 1964 he married Avis Fossen at Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton.  Dick was a Certified Public Accountant.  After his retirement he worked for William B. Lans & Sons in South Beloit, IL.  Dick was a member of the AICPA and the Beloit noon Lions Club.  He was an avid Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Dick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Avis; three sons, Scott (Jennifer) of Mt. Horeb, Chuck of Traverse City, MI and Joe (Sarah) of St. Louis Park, MN; seven grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Rachel) of Madison; and many relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2008 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Wheeler Prairie Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. or to the Stoughton Hospital Foundation.
