Richard ""Dick"" F. Genske

I have prepared my own obituary. I grew up in Madison, attended Holy Redeemer grade school and graduated from Central High in 1960. I attended Eastern Washington State College while in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 - 1964. I met Diane Nemetz in 1961 when I was riding my motorcycle behind the bus that was carrying Diane and her classmates on a trip to Madison from Kewaunee, WI. When the bus stopped and we introduced ourselves, I knew she would be the love of my life. We married in 1965 and had two wonderful daughters, Yvette (Don) Westbrook and Natalie Seaton. Over the years, we owned and operated several businesses including The Park St Bike Repair, D&D Enterprises, Genske family painting, and the Springs Inn. We also worked for First Weber. We were inseparable until my death. I am survived by the greatest person I've ever known, my faithful wife, Diane. She took care of my every need and in later years, buttoned my shirts, tied my shoes, cut my hair and made sure I was ready to go out in the world. She was the finest wife a man could have, a true gift from God. I am further survived by our daughters, Yvette (Don) Westbrook and Natalie Seaton; grandsons, Dr. Donny (Rachel) Westbrook and Blake (Sara) Westbrook and great-grandson, Noah Westbrook; my sisters, Joyce, Judy and Janice (AKA KATHERINE ELIZABETH VANDERBILT); my sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Gary) Dennis; my brother-in-law, Walter (Terri) Nemetz; and several nephews. I was preceded in death by my parents, Alfred and Ann (Ripp) Genske; and my beloved mother-in-law, Esther Nemetz. Many thanks to my longtime friends, Fr. J. Gibbs Clauder, Fayth Kail, Marge Taylor and Keith (Linda) Forst. A special thanks to Dr. Orest Kostelyna (Linda) who did his best to keep me alive for many years. He and Linda are very special friends of ours. A special thanks to the wonderful staff and patients at Madison Area Renal Specialists. It was fun while it lasted. My gratitude and thanks to Heartland Hospice for their kind and wonderful care. I extend appreciation to the CNA duo at the Villa, Casey and Rachel, for going above and beyond. My love to Fr. Bart Timmerman, and the great staff at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish, who ministered to me for years. GOD BLESS YOU! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Fr. Bart Timmerman presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The service will be followed by Military Honors and a luncheon at church. Written condolences or memorials may be made to Diane Genske at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, WI 53711. It is my request that no time be wasted on electronic messages! Because a solemn sacred ceremony is being celebrated in God's house, semi-formal attire, while greatly appreciated, is not mandatory.
