Richard Dee “Ric” Hoerz passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg. Ric was born on January 1, 1949 to the late Richard and Melva (Finger) Hoerz.
Ric wore many hats in his life, leaving quite a legacy. Born and raised in Sheboygan, he had a great love for Lake Michigan. In high school, he moved to Madison and later attended Madison College earning a degree in Electronics Technology and began working for Ohio Medical Products, where he helped design anesthesiology machines. In 1984 he moved to St. Louis where he met his wife, Gale Shirley. They were married on June 7, 1986. Ric worked for Allied Health Care Products, then Charles Boren, traveling nearly nightly to meet with doctors to discuss the efficacy of pharmaceuticals. During this time one of his biggest loves was serving as President of Habitat for Humanity, which he did for 4 years, along with serving as President of Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce for several years. He went on to buy the Sandler Sales Training franchise in 1996 until selling in 2011. It was his passion to train sales executives in honing their skills.
Ric was happiest on his sailboat, the “Gale Angel”. In 2013 he returned to Madison to live on his beloved Lake Mendota. He was an avid sailor who was happies on his sailboat, the “Gale Angel.” He also went to work for Asbury Methodist Church as Business Manager, a job he cherished.
In his free time, Ric enjoyed euchre, sheepshead, and barbequing on his Kamodo grill. He also loved listening to his daughter’s all-girl band, Midnight Angel. Ric had unwavering faith and wanted to hear Jesus say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Ric will be deeply missed by his wife, Gale; daughter, Angela Hoerz of Madison, son, David (Karen Wagner) Hoerz of Portland, OR; one grandchild; 2 sisters, Nancy (Steve Cowles) Cusson of Glastonbury, CT, and Sandy Meves of Ft. Meyers, FL; brother, Barry (Ingrid) Hoerz of Mount Horeb; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. at Asbury Church, 6101 University Avenue, Madison, WI on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A light luncheon will follow.
