Madison -- Richard H. Holmes, age 80, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 29, 1928 to Harold and Eleanor (Polzin) Holmes in Superior, Wisconsin. Richard served in the U.S. Army after graduating from the University of Wisconsin -- Madison. In 1990, Richard retired after working as an engineer with the Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Zor Shrine and Masonic Lodge in Madison. Richard is survived by his wife, Goldene; two daughters, Terri (Craig) Bush, and Nancy (Peter) Chen; a step-son, Jason (Nichole) Schneeberger; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia (Roland) Willian. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ralph; and a step-daughter, Cheryl Grill. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave, Middleton, with Pastor Roger Eigenfeld presiding. There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Inurnment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona. Memorials are appreciated to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 N.
