December 20, 1945 — July 10, 2018

FITCHBURG- On July 10th, 2018, following a 4 year battle with cancer, Richard (Dick) Huber, 72, passed away. Dick was born on Dec. 20, 1945 in Spencer, WI to Ted and Alice Huber. He grew up on a small farm and attended Spencer schools.

Dick went to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, earning degrees in Math, Economics, and Healthcare Fiscal Management. He was drafted into the U. S. Army during the Vietnam war, and after basic training at Ft. Campbell Kentucky, was assigned to the Pentagon to do research work on weapons systems.

Dick married Mary Ann O'Brien on July 18, 1970. They had one daughter, Julie, now married to Allen Mueller. Julie and Allen have two daughters, Lindsey and Rachel.

Following his service in the army, Dick began his career with the Wisconsin State Department of Administration in the budget area and then spent 29 years with Ohmeda/GE Healthcare in various financial roles.

Dick was a man of many interests who loved travel, painting, growing grapes, baseball history, golf and other sports. He still holds Spencer's single game scoring record in basketball, some 50+ years later. He and Mary visited all 48 mainland states and over 30 countries during their years together. His favorite place-Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, daughter Julie (Allen) Mueller, granddaughters Lindsey and Rachel Mueller, brother Dennis (Linda) Huber, sisters-in-law Ruth (Rich) Campbell and Margaret O'Brien and many nieces and nephews.

Dick and Mary send a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Frontiera of SSM Oncology for being both our doctor and our friend. Our thanks also to Drs. Nan Sethakorn and Marc Albertini of the Madison VA and to the oncology staffs of SSM Health, the Madison VA and Agrace Hospice Care for their support during Dick's illness.
