Richard E. Keyel

Sun Prairie-Richard E. Keyel, age 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home. He was born on September 28, 1952 in Rochester, NY the son of Earl & Florence (Geil) Keyel. Richard was united in marriage with Sally Pastel on August 9, 1975 in Liverpool, NY. He was a resident of Sun Prairie for the past 4 years and prior to that longtime resident of Racine. Richard was employed with Bell Laboratories as an Entomologist. In his spare time he enjoyed birding, prairie restoration and historic miniature games. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Monona, former member of Bristol Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie and prior to that was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Racine for over 23 years. Richard is survived by his wife of nearly 36 years, Sally, Sun Prairie; his children, Peter (Beth Martin) Keyel, Pittsburgh, Alexander ""Sasha"" Keyel, Boston and Edward ""Ted"" Keyel, Sun Prairie; his mother, Florence ""Puss"" Keyel, Penfield, NY; his sister, Jayne (Dennis) Brown, Kendall, NY; father-in-law, Robert Pastel, Liverpool, NY; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law, Bea Pastel. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, with Pastor Tim Hansen and Pastor Richard Halom officiating. A time of gathering will be held on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church or the Goose Pond Sanctuary,222 S.
