Richard Lockman

DeForest
Richard F. Lockman, age 65, passed away on May 26, 2016 peacefully with his family by his side at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI eight days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Richard was born on January 10, 1951 in Madison, WI. He graduated from DeForest High School in 1969, then married and raised five children while dairy farming near Arlington, WI. He later spent many years as a Warehouse Manager for Champion Inc. in Sun Prairie, WI and ended his career driving truck for Firestone in DeForest, WI. Richard enjoyed many years bowling, playing softball, and rarely missed a Brewer, Packer or Badger game. In 2015, Richard achieved his dream by moving from Morrisonville, WI, where he was affectionately known as "The Mayor", to Fifield, WI in Price County to be closer to his true passion of musky fishing and hunting deer and coyotes. Richard was an exceptional long distance shooter, had a life time knowledge in reloading his own ammunition, and he put that skill to use shooting those pesky prairie dogs out west. He recently learned to enjoy riding snowmobile/ATV trails with his friends up north. Richard was always smiling, quick with a joke, humble in every way, willing to help others, and always made time for his loved ones. He was most proud of his kids and grandkids. His five children will miss their long talks, all his stories, lifelong fishing and hunting partner, his one-liners, his love for his grandchildren, and how he took on every day with a positive attitude. His grandchildren will miss his infectious laugh, his special pancakes, and his tips on hunting, fishing and sports.

Richard is survived by his children Sheryl (Jim) Cunzenheim, Holly (Rob) Guenther, Jackie (Andy) Hahn, Bryan (Karla) Lockman, Tracy (Mike) Helleckson; grandchildren Shelby, Tayla, Heidi, and Lucas Cunzenheim, Kailey, Courtney and Austin Guenther, Ashley and Travis Hahn, Brenna and Collin Lockman, and Gavin Helleckson; siblings Dave (Cathy), Sister-In-Law Lorrie, Darla, and Dan (Rose) Lockman. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Alice and his brother Douglas Lockman.

Funeral services will be held at BURKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5720 Portage Road, Madison, on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Neubert officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
