Richard Nordness

Sun Prairie- Richard J. Nordness, age 76, passed away unexpected on February 2, 2013 at the St. Mary's Emergency Center, Sun Prairie. He was born on February 2, 1937 in Madison the son of Richard & Irene (Krause) Nordness. Dick was united in marriage with Lea Miller on February 21, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a lifelong resident of Sun Prairie. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and always kept in contact with several of his fellow shipmates. He was a member of Bristol Lutheran Church. He was a longtime local car salesman. Dick enjoyed his weekly card games with his friends at the VFW and his holiday card games with family; being with his grand kids and watching them play sports; going to midget races on Sunday nights; watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Sun Prairie Cardinals; trips to the casino with his brother; and most of all having friends and family around him. Dick is survived by his beloved family which included his wife, Lea, Sun Prairie; his children, Richard A. (Beth) Nordness III, Ft. Atkinson, Roxanne (David) Gaffney, El Cajon, CA, Robert (Gina) Nordness, Stoughton and Michael (Rebecca) Nordness, Watertown; his grandchildren, Callie, Zoe, Brian, Jason, Rachel, Tyler, Malari, Cole, Peyton and Emma; his brothers, Terry (Barb) Nordness, Janesville, Stephen (Sheryl) Guetzlaff, Sun Prairie and Kurt (Ann) Nordness, China; his sisters, Shelly (Keith) Ullrich, Windsor and Denise (Jeff) Stier, Williamsport, IN; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rose Ann Johnson. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bristol Lutheran Church, 5865 Ct. Hwy N, Sun Prairie with Rev. Rick Riten officiating. Burial will be held in the church's cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie.
