Richard Stark

Richard O. Stark, age 75, passed away on February 8, 2025, three short weeks after his wife passed and a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born January 30, 1950 in Sun Prairie to the late Clarence and Marcella (Keiner) Stark. Rich graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1969. He married the love of his life Cheryl Haas on April 6, 1974, and they recently celebrated 50 years together. He worked over 30 years for the University of Wisconsin grounds department. Rich loved spending time with family, especially time spent with his grandchildren. He had a passion for raising parakeets and canaries and did that for decades. He loved playing cards, camping, hunting, fishing, a love of horses and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.

Rich is survived by his children Shannon (Mike) Krachey and Becky (Dan) Gleiter; grandchildren Collin and Carter Krachey, and Ben and Nick Gleiter; siblings: LaVerne (Holly) Stark, Diane Brooks, Jim Stark, Duwayne (Bonnie) Stark, Bonnie (Mike) Hackett, Jeff (Donna) Stark, Cindy (Ron) Morschauser, sister-in-law Joyce Stark; he is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, his parents, his brother Johnnie Stark, brother-in-law Dave Brooks, sister-in-law Edwina Stark.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Sunday March 2, 2025, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, WI 53590. A luncheon is planned for after the service. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
