Richard Stark

February 25, 1921 — August 28, 2012

Richard Paul Stark, husband, father, Realtor, fisherman, golfer and all around swell guy has passed away at the age of 91.

Richard was born in 1921, third child of Paul and Julia Stark, in Madison Wisconsin. He served bravely in WWII as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps, where he loaded armaments on planes, and readied airfields.

Upon returning from the war, Richard married Beverly M. Muth, and went to work at his Father's real estate firm, then the Paul E. Stark Company. He and his brother Phil partnered as heads of the Stark Company until his retirement. Dick was a natural and top salesman. He liked people, and they liked him.

Dick knew how to relax too. He was an excellent golfer, once the Nakoma Country Club Champion. He was an outdoor enthusiast, an ardent fisherman and hunter who had a great respect for nature and was dedicated to preserving it. And he was always happy in his home workshop, tinkering, tying flies, and making things work again.

Although he and Beverly divorced after 23 years of marriage, they later re-united and shared a love and friendship, to the great delight of the entire family.

He was a loving and caring father to his two children Shelley and Randy. The twinkle in his eye, and his gentle touch to life will live forever in the hearts of his children.

Dick is survived by the loves of his life, Beverly Stark, Shelley Kingrey (Tom), and Randy Stark (Judy), his brother Phil Stark, sister Marjorie Morganthaler, and 4 grandchildren, Alex, Madeline, Jake and Wilson. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Stark Adams, and Jane Stark Savidusky.

Rest in peace, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend. You will be ever so missed.

A Celebration of Richard's life will be held at 1 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
