Madison – Richard Lynn Stoddard, 79, of Madison passed away after a brief illness on October 12, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on February 24, 1942 at St. Mary’s Hospital, the son of Martin and Mildred (Hein) Stoddard.
Richard was a graduate of East High School in 1960. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Ulithi in the South Pacific. After serving in the Military, Dick came home to Madison where he was the head Cake Baker for Bowen’s Bakery. He later opened up his own Bakery in Madison on University Avenue.
Richard was married on September 4, 1965 to Mary Kathryn Reis. The couple were proud parents of four children.
Dick enjoyed Country Dancing, fishing, and meeting up with the breakfast bunch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Nick (Irene) Reis; son-in-law, Wayne Droster; brothers-in-law, John Yager, Thomas Reis; and daughter-in-law, Nichole Stoddard.
Survivors are Dicks four children, Richard (Ginger), James, twin daughters, Sandra (Monte) and Susan. Grandchildren, Janelle (Zach), Brett, Kyrn, Derek, and Emma. Kay Stoddard; special friend, Marilyn Gramdorf; sister, Mary Ellen Droster; sisters-in-law, Judith Yager and Patricia Reis and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at SUGAR RIVER PIZZA, 1390 Cabela Drive, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, 53590.
