Madison- Richard D. Swangstu, Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the UW Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on May 20, 1948, the son of Edwin and Borghild Swangstu.
Dicker grew up in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country as a nurse during Vietnam. Dicker settled in Stoughton after the war and raised his family. In 1982 he married Joan E. Triggs. Together they enjoyed dancing, traveling to Alabama, playing cards, and spending time with family. Dicker was an avid Packer and Badger fan and enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling, golf, and The Young and The Restless. He was a jack of all trades and could fix any problem, master carpentry, building houses, plumbing, and cars were his specialties.
Dicker is survived by his children, Deanna (Curt) Drafall, Lisa (Tim) Blumer, Elizabeth Swangstu (Randall Zeck), Richard (Linda) Ly and Jeanie (Kyle) Hanna; 11 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; siblings, Elvin "Sonny" (Linda) Swangstu, Darlene Butler, and Elizabeth Dollar; nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; and siblings, Roger Lee, Edward, Donald, Betty, and Eugene.
A Celebration of Dicker's life will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Stoughton American Legion Post 59. Military honors will take place at 2pm with gathering to continue until 5:00 PM.
