Richard Walker

March 13, 1941 — May 30, 2014

Madison-Richard Gilbert Walker age 73 died on Friday May 30 2014. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol Louise (Marsh) Walker, and Reggie (Lhasa Apso/terrier ) beloved dog both of Madison. Richard is also survived by his sister Marilyn (Walker) and Lee LaBute of California, PA, and his brother William (Rosemary) Walker of Ashburn, VA. He is also survived by William (Nancy) Marsh of Georgetown, TX, David Marsh (Maryalice Jordan-Marsh) of Studio City, CA, and Roger Marsh (Debra Drown) of Chicago, IL. He is further survived by fifteen nieces and nephews, 27 grand nieces and nephews, and three great grand nieces and nephews. Richard is preceeded in death by his parents William and Bertha (Gilbert) Walker of Ohio, and William and Louise (Dollison) Marsh and Louise Mae Marsh of Madison. Our deepest candor and gratitude go to Plymouth Congregational United Church Of Christ of Madison with additional candor to William Mollway, Eileen Larson, and Ann Lacy for their additional love and care. Our gratitude also extends to Rev. Jon Schultz, Rev. Jack Hicks, Rev. Meg Shepherd, and Rev. Curt Anderson. Special mention also goes to Laurie Searing and Ron Schlueter our neighbors of thirteen years for weekly support and maintaining stability in our lives. Added gratitude is also extended to Patricia Marfilius a swim friend for support. Richard was born March 13, 1941and grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area attending Spencer United Methodist Church, and graduating from Brentwood High School in 1960. After graduation he went into the U. S. Army and worked for three years in photography. He then continued his love of photography by working for Berger and Associates in Columbus, OH, Alster and Associates in the Washington D.C. area. In 1973 he was transferred to Madison. Over the years he worked for Farm and Fleet, and A To Z Rental. While attending Christ Presbyterian church he was a representative to Madison Area Urban Ministry. Wilbur (Bill) Thomas of Calvary United Methodist church invited him to his church. Carol and Richard met in the Calvary United Methodist Church choir. Richard and Carol were married on April 26, 1980 at Calvary. Over the years we have attended Monona United Methodist Church, and First United Methodist Church. During our many happy years we have enjoyed riding a tandem bicycle, canoeing, and many trips to visit family. Additional gratitude also goes to Agrace Hospice Care specifically to the North and Sapphire Teams. We also want to thank Harmony Living Centers LLC of Madison for their care. Memorial gifts may be sent to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, or Wisconsin Public Radio. A Memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, June 5 at Plymouth Congregational UCC , 2401 Atwood Ave, Madison, WI with Chaplin Steve Zwettler of Agrace Hospice Care officiating.
