Richard Whiting

Madison - Richard A. Whiting, age 84, of Madison, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was born in Madison on May 16, 1936, the eldest son of Carl and Marie (née Durcan) Whiting. A proud Marine, Dick worked for the University of Wisconsin for over 30 years. He spent his final year at Larson House in Columbus, earning a reputation as the resident jokester.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (née Hartman); a son, David; and dear nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve; and siblings, Patricia (Whiting) Brickl, Raymond Whiting, William “Bill” Whiting, and Carl “Topper” Whiting.

Private services will be held.

Dick’s family wants to thank Tracey Stalker, Brenda Hetzel, Nurse Jody of Generations Hospice, and The Larson House Staff in Columbus for their care and kindness.
