Belleville – Ritchie Eugene Snyder, at 64, passed away peacefully with his wife and kids by his side at his home in Belleville. He lost his battle to cancer. He was born January 13, 1956 in Stoughton to Ronald and Anechia “Butch” (Hurlbutt) Snyder.
He is a graduate of Oregon High School. Ritchie worked at Varco-Pruden in Evansville, WI, for 25 years. Following that, Ritchie was a carpenter for 15 years and a proud member of Union Local #314.
Ritchie married Debra K Legler on June 25, 1977; they have been together 47.5 years. He was the most amazing, kind caring person. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Known for his great smile and a contagious laugh, Ritchie was loved by all. He was the strongest man we know and was a great fighter.
His all-time favorite week was deer hunting with family. Ritchie loved being outdoors and gardening in the green house. He had just started a hobby of wood turning.
Ritchie is survived by his wife of 42 years Debra; daughter April M. McConnell (Ryan), son Mitchell E. Snyder (Tracy); sister, Kim Snyder; grandchildren Griffen (Abbie), Anechia, Zada, and Boe McConnell, Devon and Owen Snyder, step grandchildren Sam, Harlie and Trey; nieces, Tami and Kari; and mother-in-law Jeannette W. Legler.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Anechia “Butch” (Hurlbutt) Snyder.
A private gathering was held at Cress Funeral Home.
He absolutely loved all of his co-workers at Bachmann Construction. We want to thank Al Bachmann for everything he and the crew at Bachman Construction have done. We would also like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for the wonderful care provided to Ritchie.
