SUN PRAIRIE/WATERTOWN--Robert "Bob" F. Brandenstein, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He was born on June 2, 1927 in Watertown, WI. He graduated from St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Bob proudly served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on November 1, 1945. Later in life, Bob became a member of the Marshall American Legion Post 279.
Bob went on to marry Lorraine Griep on October 17, 1953 who preceded him in death on February 19, 2003. They spend their years in Watertown where Bob dedicated over 33 years to Waukesha Foundry and was also an active Plattdeutscher.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, woodworking, reading along with country music (mostly Johnny Cash). Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He devoted as much time as he could to his son John, four grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Bob put his fantastic talents in the kitchen to use and was also known for his "world-renowned jello"!
Bob is survived by his son John (Jan) Lietz; four grandchildren Jason Lietz (Jenny), Justin Lietz (Melisa), Jamey Lietz (Stacey), and Christina Goins (Ben); and great-grandchildren Darlyn, Allison, Aiden, Ashler, Caitlyn, Conner, Taylor, Logan, Alex, Savannah, William, Taylor, and Casen; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; great-grandson Gavin Jason Lietz; four brothers Clem, Victor, John, and Walley; and sister Ruth.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 am on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 300 Broadway Street, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 with a service to follow at 11:30 am. Bob will be brought to his final place of rest at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia, WI.
