Robert Lyle Colley

July 28, 1925 — August 2, 2008

Robert Lyle Colley   Madison-Admired for his keen sense of humor, gentle manner as well as his love of math, chocolate and bridge, Robert Lyle Colley died peacefully August 2.   Bob was born in Petoskey, Michigan on July 28, 1925.   He received a Purple Heart serving in the US Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany.   Upon returning to the USA he graduated from University of Michigan School of Business in 3 years.   In 1950 he married Alfa Toole, the love of his life, and they lived in Ann Arbor until 2007 when they moved to Oakwood Village West to be near their daughter.   He will be missed at the bridge games and the coffee hours as well as his favorite breakfast place in Madison. He is survived his two daughters, Nansi Colley PhD, a professor at the University of Wisconsin; Karen Colley (Dennis Drobeck), of Ypsilanti, MI;   grand-daughter, Sarah (Matthew) Kostishak Allan of Grand Rapids, great grandson, Elijah Allan of Grand Rapids; step- grandchildren, Jeremy (Melissa) (Twin great granddaughters, Kylee and Tana)   Drobeck of Kalamazoo; Andy Drobeck of Missoula, MT; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Jim Boulet of Lexington, S.C. and nephew, Jim Boulet, Jr. of Alexandria, Va. Friends will gather to remember Bob at 11 AM, August 7, 2008, at Oakwood Village West in The Resurrection Chapel, 6201 Mineral Point Road Madison, WI 53705.   Donations may be made to The Oakwood Foundation, 6205 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI 53705.
