Robert Everson

Stoughton - Robert W. "Bob" Everson, Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 29, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Stoughton on November 5, 1931, the son of Robert Sr and Lillian (Iverson) Everson.

Bob graduated from Stoughton High School in 1949, where he was junior year Prom King, four-year letter winner in multiple sports and held the Stoughton High School high jump record for 23 years.

On August 16, 1951, Bob was united in marriage to Katie Stelzer at First Lutheran Church in Stoughton. He worked as an electrician at Uniroyal until his retirement in 1997. In 1963 Bob and Katie fulfilled their dream and purchased a farm. Several years ago, they proudly sold 90 percent of the farmland to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Their legacy lives on as the Island Lake Waterfowl Production Area.

He is survived by his four children, Mark (Linda), Cindy Seely (Kort Kath), Richard (Jolene), and Karla Zentmire (Lee Fisher); six grandchildren, Tiffany, Ben (Jamie) and John, Daniel (Ashley) and Kelly (Tim Corcoran), and Allan (Madalyn); five great grandchildren; brother, David; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Katie Everson in 2014, two grandchildren; Joel and Curtis, and three siblings; Donald, Paul and Carol.

A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at CRESS FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 206 West Prospect Street, Stoughton from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Covenant Lutheran Church Columbarium in Stoughton.
