Robert (Bob) Gardill, who was an honorary Waunakee resident, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter and her family on December 16th, his 84th birthday. Bob grew up and lived in Pittsburgh PA. After his retirement he never stopped working to help others. He always said yes to any favor that he was asked to do. Bob's passion for old time radio shows resulted in his collecting thousands of programs that he hoped to share with others. He also loved feeding the birds.
Bob is survived by his wife Audrey, who spent many hours providing for his comfort and care; his sister, Doris Keefe, of Florida, and his brother and sister in law, Walt and Joan Gardill of Pittsburgh, who did all that they could to support him on his journey to the Lord. He is also survived by his daughter Sharyn Gardill and her husband John Hyland. Bob set a wonderful example of hard work and generous spirit for his three grandchildren, Aedan, Olivia and Julia Gardill. Bob was a man of few words, but many talents. He had a deep, abiding faith in others and in God. Bob leaves us an empty space that no one can possibly fill, but with many memories of his life, his love and of the lives that he touched. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Winn- Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee, with visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wisconsin Public Radio.
