Madison - Robert D. Gill, age 77, passed away at his home on Friday, April 22, 2016. He was born on October 7, 1938 to Chester and Florence (Krause) Gill in Madison.
Robert said that his life had been good. He lived in his home on Lake Monona in Madison for the past 41 years with his loving partner, Steven Fauska. He graduated from Michigan State University in hotel management, then managed a hotel on the University of Wisconsin campus for 15 years. After those years, he changed profession and began listing and selling Madison lake property. He enjoyed living on the lake, looking out at the water and shared this beautiful view with his friends and family. Robert and his partner hosted many Fourth of July gatherings, an occasional wedding or other celebrations at their home. For Robert, Madison was a great place in the summer, but the winters were long and cold. The two would escape the winters by traveling around the world. They had been on six continents to over 40 countries with the favorite and most exotic places being India and Kenya. Their house is exquisitely decorated with the treasures they found during their travels. At home, the two enjoyed the company of their numerous friends by dining out often at the various restaurants in the area.
Robert is survived by his loving partner of over forty years, Steven Fauska. Robert had two older brothers, James C. Gill (deceased) and George Gill, and many surviving nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.
