Robert Halpin

August 1, 1955 — January 31, 2012

McFarland - Robert H. Halpin, age 56, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 29, 2012 after a lengthy illness with his best friend, Cathy, at his side.
Bob was born on August 1st, 1955 in Madison to John and Marian Halpin. Bob married his West High School sweetheart on May 28, 1977. He earned his Bachelors degree at Lakeland College and his CPA license on the first try. Bob was employed by, and became friends with his colleagues at, Scientific Protein Labs (SPL) in Waunakee.

He loved Wisconsin outdoors and state parks, camping, biking, hiking, traveling and very much enjoyed his Star Trek memorabilia. Bob had a quirky sense of humor, which was said to be as dry as a martini. He had a vast amount of patience demonstrated by his ability to escort five talkative women through Europe, without resorting to earplugs. Bob interests also included attending every game during the last 37 years of the WIAA Boys Basketball Tournaments, along with his good friend Paul Hagen, attending state fairs with pal, Dave Boelke and watching the oddest bad movies on Mystery Science Theater with fellow movie buff, Mark Lang.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy; brothers, James (Janet), John (Mary); sister, Mary (Robert); mother-in-law, Janet Stoikes; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Jane) Stoikes, Tim (Robin) Stoikes, Jim (Judy) Stoikes; sister-in-law, Julie (Doug) Sutter; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his father, John "Jack" Halpin; mother, Marian Halpin; father-in-law, Arnold Stoikes; many aunts and uncles; and his beloved pet, Barkley.
