Robert W. Magel

Robert Magel, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

The son of Jennette Kerns and Norman Hovey, he was then adopted by Doug Magel. Robert Magel grew up in Madison, WI. He was born March 18, 1960 and attended La Follette High School.

At the age of 17, Robert Magel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He valued this service highly. 

During his military service, Robert was able to travel to many different parts of the world including being stationed at the Okinawa Islands of Japan and South Carolina for several years. In Okinawa, he worked on many of the US military aircrafts as a jet engine mechanic.

Robert loved to go hunting, fishing, boating, racing and fixing old classic cars, and playing and teaching guitar. Robert was a kind-spirited and generous person and had a deep sense of compassion for helping others. Robert would go out of his way to help anyone he could. 

He is survived by his daughters: Maggie (Angel) Lopez, Trisha Magel (Shane Hughes), and Brandi (Mario) Andino; granddaughters, Vaeda and Aria; brother Danny Hovey; sister Debbie Tuck. 

Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 AM on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Cress Funeral Home SUN PRAIRIE. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with full military honors. Folks are welcome to join the family at The Dutch Mill, 4818 Dutch Mill Rd #4112, Madison, WI 53716, immediately following services.
