Waunakee - Robert Paul Manske, age 74, passed away at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital on May 10, 2016, taken from his family by cancer. The wonderful doctors and nurses at the VA worked tirelessly to help him fight this disease and provide comfort until the very end.
The son of the late Howard and Lillian (Sontag) Manske, he is survived by his loving wife Sue, daughters Kathleen (Joseph) Adamson, Kristyann Manske, Angeline Manske, grandchildren Jordan and Joseph Adamson, and his brother James Manske.
Bob and Sue had many wonderful years together in Waunakee. They would have been married 46 years on their D-day, June 6. His family meant everything to him. He received his Master's degree in Classics at UW-Madison in 1974 and worked at Swiss Colony for most of his career while pursuing his passions for ancient languages (including Egyptian hieroglyphics), astronomy, military history and, of course, the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the Waunakee School Board, served as president of the Madison and the Milwaukee Astronomical Societies, and is a member of American Association of Variable Star Observers and of the American Research Council in Egypt. Bob touched many lives and continues to live on in our hearts.
Family and friends may visit at Natural Path Sanctuary, 2299 Spring Rose Rd, Verona, on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of a celebration of life service at 11 a.m.
