Robert W. Nielsen, age 76 passed away on Thursday, November 9th at Agrace Hospice. He was born in Milwaukee, WI October 14, 1947 to Ralph and Marjorie (Ziegler) Nielsen.
Bob graduated from Madison West High School in 1965 and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from MATC in 1969.
Bob had a long career in the food industry starting as a grocery clerk at the A&P Supermarkets in 1965. In 1969 he began working at Certco Grocery, Inc. until his retirement in 2002 as an Office Manager/Accountant.
He served with the US Army Reserve 826th Ordinance Co., Specialist 5, Finance Clerk 1970-1977.
Coaching his sons in soccer and Little League baseball truly were the highlights of his life. Bob was an avid fan of Badger sports, Brewers, Bucks, Phoenix Coyotes. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, baseball card collecting, 4th of July gatherings, his many trips to baseball Spring Training and Vegas for a little gambling and singing along during a Rod Stewart or Neil Sedaka show.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol; sons: Andy (Truli) and Kyle. Grandchildren Alivia & Rhett. Brothers in law Bob (Carol); Larry; nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff on UW Health D4/4 Neurosciences Progressive Care Unit, Dr. M. Baskaya and his surgical team, UW Health Palliative Care and Agrace Hospice for their tender, compassionate care for Bob. The loving support given to Bob and our family was incredible and will not be forgotten.
A private graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UW Health Carbone Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
