Stoughton- Robert Ross Quisenberry, age 86, died on July 4, 2010 at Nazareth House in Stoughton, WI. He was born on December 20, 1923 in Lincoln, Illinois.  Robert was the only child of Ross and Edith Mae (Sheets) Quisenberry. He was premature at birth and only weighed 3 pounds but the doctor told his mother ""from acorns grow mighty oaks."" For most of his life he was a ""mighty oak"" to his family and community.  Robert graduated from Hartsburg-Edmen High School and was a proud alumni, attending 69 consecutive alumni banquets. He was first and always a farmer, from horse drawn equipment to wind towers. He was honored to farm two family centennial farms in Illinois. In a long life of service to his community, Robert was an active member of many organizations. He was on the boards of: Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, Logan County Board, Lincoln/Logan Mutual Insurance Co., Logan County Fair Sheep Superintendent, which he did along with his father for more than 30 years. He was president of one of the last ""Party Line"" telephone companies in Illinois during it's transformation to dial service (we were a short and a long), a Toastmaster Club member and member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Emden.  Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth; his son, Rodney Ross (Mary Murray) Quisenberry; and three grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud of, Eric Ross (Chrissy) Quisenberry of Villanova, PA, Michael Thomas (Jennifer) Quisenberry of Buford, GA and Michelle Linn Quisenberry of Bluffton, SC. He is further survived by extended family, Roger and Jo Bunten and their children, Kate and Matt, of Morton, IL; and all the surviving members of the card club.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and son, John.  Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home, 620 Pulaski Street, Lincoln, IL. Internment will be held at Bethel Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 2:00 PM until the time of services on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Emden Historical Society or Hartsburg-Emden Alumni.
