Severson, Robert
Stoughton- Robert L. Severson, age 72 of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008 in a Madison Hospital following a brief illness. Bob, as he was affectionately known, was born in Stoughton on May 13, 1936, a son of the late Helmer and Edna (Gretebeck) Severson. In his youth he resided in the Cooksville area with his parents, and for many years has resided in Stoughton, where he made his home. He graduated from the Stoughton High School and was employed as a carpenter in the Evansville / Stoughton area for many years. Bob was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ushers Club for thirty years and helped with the monthly meal of the church. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and doing jig-saw puzzles. He loved writing letters to his family informing them of daily activities and how he spent his time. He was an early riser, and enjoyed fellowship at the local Koffee Kup and Sunrise restaurants, visiting with his friends. He is survived by three sons, Eric (Marci) of Monroe, Richard (Luz) of Cypress, Texas and Kendall of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, John, Nicolle, and Ana; two brothers, Howard (Carol) of Oregon, WI, and Thomas (Bonnie) of Stoughton; a sister, Carol (Walter) Wedin of Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church 310 Washington St., Stoughton with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. A private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends at church from 10:00 am until the time of services. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at the church following the memorial service.
