Robert C. “Bob” Seyffer passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, after having complications from a traumatic head injury. He was born on February 27, 1943, in Durand, Wisconsin, the son of Fern (Mercer) and Harold Seyffer. He grew up with his three brothers on the farm on Big Hill in Pepin, Wisconsin, where he learned to hunt, fish, and to be a team player. He graduated from Pepin High School in 1961 and was drafted to the Army Reserves.
In 1963, Bob graduated from Buffalo County Teacher’s College and was married three months later on August 24, 1963, to Sandra J. Sohrweide. He started his teaching career in Princeton, Wisconsin. In 1965, Bob moved to Barneveld, Wisconsin to teach. He realized his love for the Barneveld community after his first year coaching the boys’ basketball and little league teams. He chaperoned class trips and spent time with his students and players on the weekends mentoring them and watching Green Bay Packers games. Bob had the first of four children while living in Barneveld, and always had a hole in his heart after he lost her at only four months old. He was truly humbled by the way the community embraced him. He made lifelong friends and family that he spoke of and thought about often.
After six years in Barneveld, Bob became the Principal at the Marshall Elementary School in Marshall, Wisconsin. Bob and Sandi decided to raise their family here and had three more children. Bob was an advocate for people with disabilities and instrumental in starting programs for second language learners in the Marshall community. He also continued to coach his children’s little league teams as well as their junior high basketball teams. He knew it was important to continue with his education and attended classes during the summer months at Winona State University in Minnesota and Platteville, Wisconsin to complete his Master’s Degree.
Bob was very active in the Marshall community attending sporting events, concerts, and school board meetings and was a member of the Marshall Lions Club. Bob loved to be busy, play cards and hang out with his friends. He loved watching all Wisconsin sports, especially the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. He loved talking about them even more. What brought him the most joy and pride in his life was watching his grandchildren grow to be wonderful young adults. Having a grandson and granddaughter completed his life.
Bob is survived by his children, Rob and Ross Seyffer of Marshall; daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Shane Kitson of Pardeeville, Wis.; grandson, Cole (Brianna Fitzsimmons) Seyffer of Windsor, Wis.; granddaughter, Kaylin Seyffer of Marshall: brothers, Lynn (Phyllis) Seyffer of Durand, Wis., Steve (Connie) Seyffer of Pepin, Wis.; special foster son, Roger (Joellen) Uptegraw of Barneveld, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
