Robert 'Red' LaVerne Slinde, age 64, passed away at his home in Stoughton on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. He was born in Edgerton on December 24, 1943, a son of LaVerne and Leona (Geske) Slinde. Red was a very sociable and well loved person, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an accomplished tennis player in his youth. He worked at Uniroyal for over 30 years, and also worked as a bartender. He liked to be out and about when he could, and enjoyed horse racing, dog racing, and trips to Reno. He is survived by a son, Duane (Lisa) Slinde; a daughter, Dawna (Jeff) Furseth; 4 grandchildren, Erin, Erica, Cameron and Hannah; his father, LaVerne Slinde; a sister, Linda (Dennis) Fyan; an aunt, Evelyn Geske, and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Slinde. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00 am at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 15 from 4 to 7pm, and again on Saturday from 10am until the time of service.
